MEET PETE

New Leadership for a New Pasco
JOIN THE CAMPAIGN!

Success! Message received.

Hi! I'm Pete Serrano, a Pasco resident for the past two years. I've lived all over the country: California Florida, Vermont, D.C, California again, and now I am proud and happy to call Pasco home.  While each place I've lived has had its unique challenges and opportunities, I see Pasco as a place full of each. As a growing, diverse city, Pasco is embarking on a new chapter, and I would like to actively participate in shaping that future. As Pasco grows, I will assist the City in planned, organized growth which will found itself on Pasco's existing unique features, while incorporating new opportunities that benefit Pasco residents. I call this "Smart Growth," and it is a focal point of what I will accomplish as a City Council member.

SMART GROWTH- A KEY PRINCIPLE OF MY CAMPAIGN

Smart Growth ensures that the City's values  are not lost or shifted as growth occurs. Smart Growth is about improving through growth. Smart Growth does not force decisions between growth and adequate housing, schools, or recreational opportunities for residents. Smart Growth seeks to incorporate residents' concerns early on in the decision making process to ensure that our facilities are not leveraged for new economic opportunities.

Qualifications

  • I plan to be here long term--I work for the Department of Energy, and government careers are known to be quite long.

  • I have two young children who are approaching school age, and I want to do my part to give them a great home, including a great community.

  • I have represented many local government agencies. I understand the decision making process, and I want to ensure that decisions are made that benefit Pasco as a whole, not just a few of us.

Active in the Community

Since moving to Pasco, my family and I have been involved in the community, specifically, the youth/young adults in the community.  My wife coached a competitive cheer team and  currently teaches dance classes. I am an adjunct professor at WSU Tri Cities, where I teach young professionals about hazardous waste management. I am also involved with the youth of our church, having taught six year olds and fourteen year olds. We are also involved in various community service projects.

Commitment

If you have an issue, I will listen, and if it is appropriate, I will address it as a City Councilmember. I won't be swayed by politics, power, or greed, but will align my votes with my morals and conscience. I will speak candidly, and I will speak for my consituents. Let me carry your voice as your elected representive.
